Enter the Bliss....Bihar

Bihar is located in the eastern part of India. It is bounded by Nepal in the north, and is surrounded by the states of Uttar Pradesh to the west, Jharkhand to the south and West Bengal to the east. Bihar is watered mainly by the River Ganga but also the Saryu, Gandak and Sone.It is mainly an agricultural state. The name Bihar is derived from Vihara meaning monastery and for visitors today Bihar is important as the land where Lord Buddha (6-5th century BC), the founder of Buddhism, spent most of his life, and where Buddhist monasteries flourished. Today, remnants of this past can be seen at Bodhgaya, Rajgir and Nalanda. The hospitality and warmth of the local people lures many tourists throughout the year. 'Non-Violence’, the most enchanting thought in the history of mankind first emanated from this land of Bihar. The Buddha and Mahavira, the pioneering propagators of this idea, pronounced this solemn solution of human suffering about 2600 years ago and resonate even today to brace humanity. The numerous stupas and pillars that were built mostly by the Great Emperor Ashoka as a tribute to the Buddha are testimony of not only the magnitude of earnestness and power but also the refined aesthetics that hold the spectator spellbound.
